Power push leads to DT's first power award
2005-07-26
Following the establishment of a dedicated Power Products Division in April last year, Coventry-based distributor DT Electronics has won its first power award from US power supply maker N2 Power. Named “European Distributor of the Year” for its design-in success with N2’s family of compact, high-efficiency AC/DC converters, DT has achieved over 30 design wins in the last year. Sales in excess of £1 million are expected from these projects as they go into production.
Rich Ford, Product Manager at DT’s Power Products Division, commented, “DT continues to win numerous awards for designing in semiconductors but this one is significant in demonstrating that the same focused approach and commitment to technical support works just as well in the power supply business.”
Randy Johnson, VP Sales for N2 Power added, “This is a particularly significant achievement in that DT has built this business from scratch - we had hardly any UK presence until their appointment. What’s more, they have created these new business opportunities with just two products, our 125W and 160W switching power supplies.”
DT Electronics will shortly add to its stockholding of N2 Power products with a new 250W AC/DC switching power supply, the XL250, that offers 9.25W/in3 power density and up to 88% efficiency, a product that is believed to be the smallest in its class. “We see demand for the 250W unit adding a further 30% or more to sales of N2 products over the next year,” added DT’s Rich Ford.
