5W DC-DC modules with improved isolation

CTC’s B5WR DC/DC modules offer a very cost effective solution to providing a range of DC voltage supplies where excellent isolation is needed for use with PCB’s used in the telecoms, industrial and computer industries.

The 85% efficient modules offer a standard isolation figure of 2KVDC minimum, however up to 6KVDC isolation is available. Offering the same footprint as similar modules from other suppliers, the CTC modules offer more options on isolation, more output options (up to 4:1) at an extremely competitive price. Custom units are also available.

Rated at 5W, as standard the modules offer a 2:1 input range (9-18, 18-36, and 36-72 volts) and variants with numerous, fully regulated, output voltages are available from 3.3V up to 15V. Current ratings are up to 1200mA as applicable to achieve the 5W power rating. Short circuit protection for the devices is continuous and short circuit restart is automatic.

Ensuring high quality, the devices are 100% tested and burnt-in, and high quality SMT components with higher temperature ratings are used for greater reliability. Showing versatility, the modules offer a usable operating temperature range of -40C to 75C.

The B5WR modules provide a line regulation of 0.2% and a load regulation (10% to 100% load) of 0.5%. The operating frequency for the devices is 70KHz and an excellent isolation resistance of 1G is attained. Isolation capacity is 30pF.

Distributed power architectures are becoming increasingly prevalent in both industrial and telecoms applications. For use in areas where lower power levels are required, the CTC modules from DT Electronics offer an effective solution to stepping down backplane voltages of 48, 24, 12 and even 5V down to lower voltages to drive FPGA’s and other silicon based products.
