ARM7 Flash MCU development kit slashes the cost of migration to 32-bit architecture

Available ex-stock from DT Electronics is the AT91SAM7S-EK microcontroller Development Kit. Launched in support of Atmel’s recently announced AT91SAM7S-series ARM7-based Flash microcontrollers, it’s a fully-featured kit. The kit comprises an evaluation board with a suite of development tools from IAR Systems, Greenhills and Keil. These compilers are code limited to 32K, but the compilers are upgradeable by contacting the relevant company. The AT91SAM7S-EK comes with Atmel’s AT91SAM7S256 soldered on the board.

AT91SAM7S-series of Flash microcontrollers, based on the ARM7TDMI processor, provide a boost in real-time performance over 8/16-bit microcontrollers. They integrate up to 256-kB Flash memory, high-speed serial communication channels, including USB, and a complete set of secure operation functions featuring a watchdog, an on-chip RC oscillator, power supply monitors and hardware protection of the Flash memory.

A low cost In-Circuit Emulator is also available for the AT91SAM series. The AT91SAM-ICE is available ex-stock from DT Electronics. The combined cost of the AT91SAM7S-EK and the AT91SAM-ICE is less than £200.
